Welcome! Guess what happened on my way to writing this blog post? Yup, everything changed.
First let me say this. True Crime is a very serious topic. Rarely will True Crime be looked upon as funny. Since that is the case, every chance I get, you’ll see my true personality come through. You see, I have to. After researching and writing all the serious, gory, horrible, offensive things that encompass True Crime, I have to go watch Disney. Or kitties and puppies. You get the idea.
The Overwhelm of True Crime
While True Crime is very serious, we have to let humor come through sometimes or it gets to be too much. So humor you get for the first post. But I digress.
I had thought that my other blog Annie Richardson Consulting was clicking along ok enough for me to start this blog. I was terribly excited. I had everything complete on the blog, enough posts, and even almost finished with a Free course. I was rockin!
THEN came March. Yeah, that March. In years from now, whoever reads this will remember March 2020. The year of the Coronavirus, aka COVID-19.
Everything Changed
I don’t know about y’all but everything in my world came to a screeching halt. We were afraid, we didn’t know what was going on. All my mastermind groups were just existing. We were all trudging along just trying to get used to the “new normal”.
Then, I had an epiphany. Let me back up. I rarely have those. Usually I simply call them brain skips or brain farts. But in this case, I wanted to be fancy.
I bravely announced to my mastermind groups that I was tired of us not making any progress. By golly we were going to start moving our blogs forward again regardless of COVID-19. That worked. My groups really started re-engaging. Only there was this ONE thing.
She Called me Out
In one of my Masterminds, I have a friend that is almost as excited about this True Crime blog as I am. She keeps telling me to “write faster” (thanks Elizabeth!). I had told her that I was very interested in writing about cults and she’s all about reading about those. Only there’s a problem.
Writing about True Crime Cults
Writing about a single cult takes days, even weeks, and even months worth of research. Now, don’t get me wrong, I LOVE to research, but that doesn’t help with getting stuff out there. One of the group members called me out. She said if I was going to ask my masterminds to move forward, that means I had to also move this blog forward. Geez. I hate when my words come back at me. So,
I thought to myself,
“I know, I’ll write about the case of the murder of the young man by his church members while his parents stood by!”.
Started reading about it and damn if it isn’t a cult too! OMG. There were tons of articles and such to research!
So, Elizabeth, you’ll have to wait a bit more on the cults. In the meantime, let me tell you what I have planned. (By the way, you can find Elizabeth at Beyond Chronic Chaos)
What this site will talk about

This site will discuss Murders, Missing/Murders, Serial Killers (I mean what’s a True Crime site without Serial Killers, right?), Cults, and other things that bother me. My goal is to write the case to bring some sort of closure to the victim’s family, in case they don’t already have closure.
I think we spend so much time talking about the murderer, what happened in his life, and even making excuses for his actions. You won’t get that here. What you will get is a discussion of the case itself, including what happened to the victims. In some cases, I may not mention the victim’s family by name, for their privacy. But they know who they are.
So first up, here’s the lineup (so far) of Cases we will talk about, in no particular order:
Cults
- Word of Life
- Bill Gothard and ATI
- The Source Family (Jim Baker)
and many more
Family Annihilators
- Susan Smith (the most hated mother for years)
- Chris Coleman
- Christian Longo
- Christina Riggs
- Chris Watts
(Uh oh, I’m seeing a trend here, what’s with all the Chris’?)
Child Killers
- Mary Bell (11 year old killer)
- Jordan Brown (11 year old killer)
- Cindy Collier & Shirley Wolf (14 & 15, respectively)
- David Brom (16 year old kid and mass murderer)
and lots more, so stay tuned! I’m writing as fast as I can.
Serial Killers
I mean, what can you say. Serial killers, by most definitions, are when a criminal kills 3 or more people. So is a family annihilator a serial killer or a family annihilator? Yes.
Sex Crimes
These are mostly murders that have a rape aspect to them.
I hope you have enjoyed a quick peek into my life and the way I think. I promise you’ll get quality articles here, not just a rehash of what someone else wrote. That’s why they take so long.
So sit back, grab a drink of whatever beverage is your favorite, and let’s go. In the meantime,
Keep praying for a better world….
Annie, the True Crime Lady
